Horse Racing Tips Friday
Brighton Races – Written by Dan Stanton

Brighton is always one of those quirky tracks where course form and handling the undulations can make a massive difference. There are a few lightly raced horses on the card that still look open to improvement and a couple that shaped much better than the bare result last time out. Around Brighton you often want horses that travel strongly and can hold a position turning in, and there looks to be some decent betting angles throughout the afternoon.

14:20 Brighton – WEATHERBYS FLAT HORSES TO FOLLOW HANDICAP (5)

ARGY BHAJI has been knocking on the door lately. His first run in a handicap was very disappointing, but he just really needs to learn to settle better during his races.

I think he’s going to come on a lot from that latest run and I can definitely see him running very close tomorrow.

14:50 Brighton – BET NOW WITH FAIRPLAYBET.CO.UK EBF RESTRICTED MAIDEN STAKES (Qualifier) (5)

TERRY O was incredibly unlucky last time out in running and his finishing position of fifth doesn’t really do the performance justice.

At one stage he was absolutely tanking through the race and just never got the breaks when needed. Luke Morris is a very eye-catching booking and whether they go for this tomorrow or wait for a handicap mark, he looks one for the future for sure.

15:20 Brighton – DOWNLOAD THE FAIRPLAY APP NOW “CONFINED” HANDICAP (5)

GALLANT LION is worth a look here in a race where you’re not going to have to be that good to win it. He’s now fallen below his last winning mark of 67 and considering he was once rated as high as 80, you would think there is still life left in this 6-year-old yet.

The 9/1 at the time of writing looks a very solid each-way price.

KONDRATIEV WAVE has been knocking on the door lately for Tony Carroll. Beaten just half a length on his last two starts, he already has course form at Brighton which is definitely required around this tricky track.

He’s only gone up 1lb for the latest effort and looks sure to be there or thereabouts again.

16:58 Brighton – FAIRPLAYBET.CO.UK BET £20 GET £20 FREE BETS HANDICAP (Qualifier) (6)

The booking of Fallon for Tony Carroll here is pretty eye-catching. NEPTUNE LEGEND looked like he had loads in hand last time out at Bath and has only gone up 4lb.

That may not be enough to stop him going in again and the 5/2 on offer looks a nice price.

17:30 Brighton – STREAMLINE TAXIS 202020 DASH FROM THE STALLS HANDICAP (6)

With Luke Catton taking off 3lb, BARNSNAPE BOY is now back below his last winning mark over course and distance.

The danger probably comes from the Tony Carroll favourite, but BARNSNAPE BOY at 6/1 looks a great each-way play at a track where course-and-distance form is absolutely key.

Horse Racing Tips – Chepstow
Written by Daniel Stanton

Chepstow looks a really interesting card with a few lightly raced handicappers that still appear to have more improvement to come. The ground and long straight at Chepstow can often suit strong stayers and horses building momentum late on, and there are definitely a couple on this card that shaped much better than the bare result last time out. A few yards are also arriving in very good form which always catches the eye at these midweek meetings.

The opening apprentice race is tough, but TROJAN TRUTH does have some very nice course-and-distance form.

Back down to his last winning course-and-distance mark of 61, Olivia Tubb takes the ride and could be in for a victory here.

14:30 Chepstow – FINLI LIVE YOUR BEST FINANCIAL LIFE HANDICAP (6)

Hugo Palmer’s horses are flying at the moment and REGULUS BLACK has an ideal opportunity to break his maiden here on just his second handicap start.

He started slowly last time out but seemed to really get the hang of things late on. I expect him to come on a lot for that effort and this looks a very winnable race.

15:00 Chepstow – BILL LEWTONS 80th BIRTHDAY NOVICE STAKES (3)

ECHO OF STARS didn’t run badly on his reappearance but you could clearly see he needed the run after seven months off the track.

I really like the form of his Newmarket run back in October, so now he should strip much fitter and looks a major player here.

15:30 Chepstow – 3 DAY PASS £30 DRAGONBET WRF HANDICAP (5)

CAYMAN TAI finally got his act together at the 19th attempt in a handicap last time out on the all-weather and he did it in decisive style, winning by 4 lengths going away.

The big grey has been put up 5lb but that still might not be enough now he’s finally got his head in front.

16:05 Chepstow – UB40 LIVE AFTER RACING 24th JULY HANDICAP (Qualifier) (6)

Harry Charlton has got off to a flyer this season and the short-priced favourite THANOS finally got his head in front last time out after three consecutive second-place finishes.

I don’t think a 6lb rise will stop him going in again here and there isn’t much else in the race catching the eye.

16:40 Chepstow – LSL RACING HORSE SALES SYNDICATION LEASING MAIDEN STAKES (4)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT was only beaten three-quarters of a length behind Sacred Ground 235 days ago, which now looks a very nice piece of form.

If this filly has filled out a bit over the winter then the 5/6 could end up looking like very good value indeed. She could easily win this like a 3/10 shot here — not a massive betting race, but definitely one worth watching.

17:10 Chepstow – DRAGONBET WELSH RACING FESTIVAL 9-11th OCTOBER HANDICAP (6)

AJRAD was very progressive last season and has now fallen 3lb below his last winning mark.

He really likes this course, winning here twice last summer and also running well off a mark of 60. I’m not totally sure he needs a mile these days, but we shall see.

Carlisle Racing Tips
Written by Bryan Rogers

Carlisle can often be a track where fitness and attitude count for plenty, especially with the long uphill finish catching out horses that don’t quite see out their races. There are a few runners on today’s card that look to be coming into form at the right time, while others have slipped to very attractive handicap marks. With several open-looking contests, there could be some decent value to be had throughout the afternoon.

14:10 Carlisle – ANDERSONS – KITCHENS BEAUTIFULLY BUILT AROUND YOU APPRENTICE HANDICAP (6)

The rapidly improving KRISSY has a penalty to carry here, but after the ease of her latest victory she will be extremely tough to beat.

She looked well ahead of the handicapper last time and can win this race well.

14:40 Carlisle – GRANDAD BILL WHINNOW EBF RESTRICTED NOVICE STAKES (Qualifier) (2)

CALL NICKI was slowly away last time out, but the 2-year-old was really getting the hang of things late on and was running on strongly.

With the benefit of those two runs under her belt, she can go on and win this race. TAMAM STAR comes from a strong stable and rates the main danger.

15:10 Carlisle – ANDERSONS – QUALITY FOR THE HOME HANDICAP (6)

After dropping 12lb in just six starts, POP STAR may now be very well handicapped.

Following a few disappointing runs, we could start to see some major improvement and he gets the vote in what looks a very open race. MIDNIGHT LIR and ALBEGONE are two outsiders who could run well at bigger prices.

15:40 Carlisle – ANDERSONS – PROUDLY LOCAL SINCE 1888 HANDICAP (6)

With just the one run on turf, WHAT A TAHOO stayed on really well on his latest start and must have a big chance here.

This isn’t the deepest race and WHAT A TAHOO can take it. Jim Goldie’s SAXON GEM has worked his way onto a very attractive handicap mark and may be a live outsider at a price.

16:10 Carlisle – andersonslimited.co.uk HANDICAP (6)

TAYLORMADE LAD has good course form and tends to come alive around this time of year.

The recent run after a break should have him spot on for this assignment and he looks a strong selection to take the fifth race on the card.

16:45 Carlisle – HOOVER – PERFORMANCE THAT LASTS HANDICAP (6) (D.I)

After dropping loads in the weights, SINGOURA is now down to a mark of just 65 and ran a really encouraging race when finishing second last time out.

A win looks to be incoming sooner rather than later and with Conor Beasley in the saddle, there are plenty of positives. If building on that latest effort, SINGOURA has every chance of going one better.

17:15 Carlisle – HOOVER – PERFORMANCE THAT LASTS HANDICAP (6) (D.II)

JAMAICAN STORM never really got into the race last time out, but is much better than that performance suggests.

This looks a very open contest and he rates a strong each-way selection. Prior to that latest run he had been shaping well enough and can bounce back with a big performance here. Brian Smart has a good record at Carlisle and JAMAICAN STORM could reward supporters at a decent price.
