Horse Racing Tip Monday 18th May 2026

Carlisle horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and today’s selections by Dan Stanton. A really interesting Monday card with some expensive unraced horses, well handicapped runners, and a few horses that look ready to strike under the right conditions.

Plenty of angles throughout the card with headgear changes, horses dropping to dangerous marks, and runners that should improve massively from their latest efforts. Hopefully we can start the week with a few winners at Carlisle.

14:00 Carlisle, BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF FILLIES’ NOVICE STAKES (2)

A really hot opening in this 4 runner race with the combined value of about 2 million quid on show. K Burke has a task breeze up purchase in Wild Blossom and he won the race last year with Venetian Sun, but my vote goes for the Kevin Philippart de Foy trained CROWNBREAKER. She was held up on debut and had every chance 2 out, just didn’t find much, but you can imagine she would have learnt a lot from that and 6/5 looks the biggest price you’ll get on this filly.

DC COGENT was well backed on his penultimate start, he didn’t settle at all that day on the AW, pulled hard and was never in the race. Last time out he looked to be getting the hang of it, and I think if he improves again and sits a lot closer to the pace he has more than enough in the locker to win this.

Keep your eye on HARB in the market also, at odds of around 10/1 he’s fallen back down to his last winning mark so will be back in the winners’ circle soon.

LORD is so interesting here for Donald McCain and he has got in here on his flat handicap debut off what could be a very lenient mark of 74. He switched yards for a decent chunk of money last year from Olly Murphy to Donald McCain and I know the Murphy yard were really keen on him. Go back to his hurdle form in December, he beat BIBE Mus who is now rated 127. He has plenty of speed and could quite easily win this from start to finish, 8/1 seems a nice price here.

LUNAR MELODY resold for 500k as a 2 year old and seems to be improving on each run. Last time out he only got beat half a length by a decent Willie Haggas horse and that form has already been franked with the 4th place horse that day winning well next time out.

I know 5/4 is short but she does look the standout filly in this race.

I think THANKFULLY SIMMY has been crying out for the step up to a mile and he gets that tomorrow. He seemed to settle better on turf but took a while to get going, the cheekpieces go on for the first time tomorrow and if this helps him concentrate in the early part of the race he could be finishing very well here, with just 3 places on offer I’d take the 5/1 as a win bet.

NATIVE INSTINCT is really interesting dropped back to 7f, I felt last time out after 187 days off that a mile was just too much of a stretch. I think tomorrow he will break well, sit handy and kick 2 out and play catch me if you can.

Keep an eye on WILLIAM DEWHIRST in the market, he is now 8lb below his last winning mark so is very well handicapped, 14/1 at the time of writing.

Lingfield Horse Racing Tips

Lingfield horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and in house professional Bryan Rogers. A really interesting Monday card with some expensive unraced horses, well handicapped runners, and horses that look ready to strike under the right conditions. Plenty of angles throughout the card with horses dropping to dangerous marks, strong recent form lines, and a few that should improve massively from their latest runs.

The recent wind op for Premier after running constantly well over hurdles may see him spot on for this considering his flat mark is still only a rating of 69, but sometimes you do need one run after having the horses wind operated on, for that reason Kings Hand gets the vote.

KINGS HAND runs very well at Lingfield and 2 starts ago at this track the horse ran a 78 rated horse of Richard Hughes very close. Today Kings Hand gets in off a rating of 69 so clearly is still well in at the weights and I expect him to take the opening contest.

2 mile contest here and BALGOWAN win last time out off a mark of 54 was a very well timed effort after being held up off the pace. With the pace angle the same I expect Ashley Lewis to have the same tactics today.

For that win the handicapper only put the horse up 2lb and with Ashley Lewis’ claim again today this horse still looks well in on ratings. To add to Balgowan’s chances, the James Owen horse he beat last time has come out and won twice very easily.

Balgowan can win this again and well deserves to be favourite.

15:20 Lingfield, SPORTING TIMES / SRI LANKA AWAITS YOU EBF MAIDEN STAKES (3)

A strong looking maiden on show here and I’m sure plenty of winners will come out of this race, but with a few of these not having run on a racecourse the vote points to the in form Marco Botti runner NOTEABLE DREAM, who is stepping up from its last run at this track over 6f to now running over 7f.

After being out the back for that last run the horse was very eye catching, staying on very strongly to finish only 2 lengths behind the winner. The horse was certainly not knocked about that day and can be winning here.

15:50 Lingfield, SPORTING TIMES / SRI LANKA NOVICE STAKES (4)

There are three horses here that were very expensive purchases and all have won a race already, they all must have really bright futures.

The George Scott horse BEHIKE was an extremely expensive horse before he ran the very highly regarded Raaheeb close, that horse is rated 112. Behike has some strong entries coming up and I fully expect this horse to win and keep improving.

The hat trick seeking TRAVEL AGENT has won well on the last two runs, going from a mark of 64 to 71 in the last month, but both wins have come on the AW and now running on the turf is worth taking on as some horses always seem to run better on the AW.

Travel Agent has yet to win on the turf and for that is worth taking on. With the reasons behind this then I’m going to make a strong case for Twirllight Jet, who loves the turf and yes he’s a 7 year old now but was once rated over 110 on the flat. Now with a mark of just 74 he could very easily bounce back to form. His recent runs have not been great but he’s now extremely well handicapped on paper.

16:57 Lingfield -SPORTING TIMES SPRINT HANDICAP (5)

Life After Love is another horse seeking a hat trick with the 2 wins coming again on the AW, but after looking into this field I’m extremely strong on the Stuart Williams horse ADALIDA

This horse has been blowing its chances over 6f by pulling far too hard, now back over 5f will really help Adalida finish his race better and running here off a mark of 62, he’s dropped 6lb from his opening handicap mark of 68 and has form with horses in the middle 80s and running them close.

Adalida may turn out to be one of the best handicap horses of the day and I really feel 5f is the horse’s perfect distance, 1 point eachway is recommended at 15/2.

Kevin Ryan’s KODIAK BREEZE looked really useful on debut over at Thirsk and was only beaten 2 lengths by a well thought of horse out of the Dods yard. Kodiak tried to lead that day but ran really green, I wouldn’t be surprised if he sits in tomorrow and finishes the race a lot better. 5/2 at the time of writing looks a decent price.

Nothing to go on at all here tomorrow, the Burke horse cost 350k but the price tag doesn’t always come out first time on the course does it, so I can’t be backing rivals at 5/4.

I’m going to take a punt at bigger odds on SOU’WESTER, now he is out of the same sire, MASAR, as the Johnston 94 rated second favourite here, so I’d rather be backing at 11/1 in a race where most of it is guess work.

14:40 Redcar, MARSKE FABRICATION & ENGINEERING STRAIGHT MILE HANDICAP (Qualifier) (5)

I thought STRAIGHT A’s performance on turf last time out was quite impressive. He came down the wrong side of the track at Doncaster under a patient ride and kicked on. He was only beaten by a horse that had the rail on the near side and was flying home.

The mark hasn’t gone up and another well produced ride could see him go close, 7/1 with 4 places on offer seems a nice each way play.

AMMOONY ran into one on handicap debut and did take a rather long time to get going. He went off 11/8 that day and to be fair was staying on really nicely under hands and heels.

He switches back to turf today and with Fallon doing the steering I expect this to get his first win on his second handicap start.

TAYGAR caught the eye and I thought maybe a return to form is on the cards. He has won over course and distance here off 1lb higher and is now on his career low mark.

There should be plenty of pace to aim at tomorrow and if he gets the breaks in traffic he will go close, each way play for me.

16:10 Redcar, racingtv.com HANDICAP (6) (D.I)

It’s a horrible penultimate race if you ask me, this Class 6 is such a bad race. I’m going to have to side with the favourite, Willie Haggas is flying at the moment and his 3 year old PERFECT RULER seems to be handed a very workable opening handicap mark of 60.

When I look at races like this, I think if this horse can’t win off 60 the owners would be very annoyed indeed!

16:43 Redcar, racingtv.com HANDICAP (6) (D.II)

Another race I can’t get too excited about in fairness and my tentative vote goes to BLACK ROCK BEAUTY, Richard and Peter Fahey’s 3 year old. He pulled hard and didn’t settle on his second start in a handicap.

I wouldn’t give up too soon, they are trying cheekpieces for the first time tomorrow and if these have the desired effect I think he’s got a great chance, it won’t take much to win this.
