Horse Racing Tips Saturday 30th May 2026
Carlisle Races – Written by Dan Stanton
Carlisle hosts a really good card on Saturday with a mix of competitive handicaps and some quality Listed and Group action. The long uphill finish at Carlisle often rewards horses that travel strongly and stay well, and there are a few runners on this card that look set to improve from recent outings. A number of these have slipped to attractive marks or arrive with ideal conditions, making for some fascinating betting opportunities throughout the afternoon.
13:30 Carlisle – BETWAY HANDICAP (2)
William Haggas’ OPPORTUNITY has some serious form in the book from last season and put in a decent performance on his reappearance at the start of the month.
This looks a very winnable race and for a horse with a recent run under his belt, I think he might win this quite comfortably.
14:00 Carlisle – BETWAY REVERENCE HANDICAP (3)
NATIVE HONEY ran nicely last time and has a very good claimer onboard, but I’m going to take a chance with Jim Goldie’s other runner JORDAN ELECTRICS.
He’s gone completely off the boil since winning eight of ten races back in 2024, but he’s now running off his lowest mark since then and it wouldn’t surprise me to see the veteran run really well at 11/1.
14:33 Carlisle – BETWAY ACHILLES STAKES (Listed) (1)
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS was very disappointing at Newmarket but he didn’t have much luck in running at all.
The 11/2 available at the time of writing looks a nice each-way price. He has some very solid black-type form and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before it all clicks again.
15:10 Carlisle – BETWAY LESTER PIGGOTT FILLIES’ STAKES (Group 3) (1)
ESTRANGE won this race last year and no doubt will be wound up and ready to go after 224 days off the track.
I can’t back against her in all honesty, but a reverse forecast with COEDANA for interest would be my play here. I think there is a lot more to come from Edward Bethell’s filly.
15:45 Carlisle – BETWAY SILVER BOWL HANDICAP (Heritage Handicap) (2)
PRINCLING looked impressive when winning his latest race at Wetherby and I think his opening mark of 87 looks very light and very workable.
His penultimate run came behind Yazin, who many rate very highly, while before that he was only beaten a nose by a 90-rated horse who is improving. At 10/3, he looks potentially thrown in by the handicapper.
16:20 Carlisle – BETWAY FILLIES’ HANDICAP (3)
ALBAYDAA just bumped into a very progressive type at Ascot last time out and looking at this race, along with the likelihood of further improvement, she will be hard to beat.
APPLES AND PEARS could run a race at a bigger price for those looking for an each-way alternative.
16:55 Carlisle – BETWAY BET £10 GET £60 HANDICAP (4)
SECRET HISTORY won nicely on handicap debut and has only gone up 2lb for that success.
I think the step up in trip will really suit and the headgear appeared to work a treat. At odds of 7/2, he looks a nice win play.
17:28 Carlisle – BETWAY GOOD LUCK ARSENAL HANDICAP (4)
I’m going to take a bit of a gamble on MOON BEGINNINGS each-way.
He has fallen 10lb below his opening mark and on debut ran nicely behind an 82-rated horse. I think there must have been an issue somewhere along the line, but if that has now been resolved then he has a great each-way chance in this race.
Chester Races – Written by Dan Stanton
Chester is one of the most unique tracks in the country and as always, draw bias, early pace and track position are going to play a huge role throughout the afternoon. Around here you need a horse that can hold a position and handle the tight turns, and there are a few runners on the card that look set up perfectly. A number of these have already shown plenty of ability and with conditions looking ideal, there could be some nice betting opportunities throughout the meeting.
13:15 Chester – CHESTER ROMAN DAY MAIDEN FILLIES’ STAKES (4)
I think the run came too quickly for TOWN QUEEN last time out with only eight days between races.
She’s had a longer break this time and I think we will finally see her get her head in front here. Even money is short enough, but she does look the most likely winner.
13:50 Chester – BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF NOVICE STAKES (2)
This race is very difficult indeed with a few newcomers and several runners that look progressive.
I’m going to side with the bigger-priced BLAKE’S MONARCH. The 11/1 available at the time of writing looks generous enough and with further improvement likely, he has a great each-way chance.
14:20 Chester – KINGKABS SELLING STAKES (4)
FURTURRA ran a great race nine days ago and was only worn down close home by his odds-on stablemate.
I thought he just got slightly outpaced that day and the step up to 6f should really help. With Oisin Murphy taking the ride, a win could well be on the cards.
14:53 Chester – LOUISE KEEGAN HANDICAP (4)
Alan King’s BELIEVITANDUCAN won nicely at Ascot last time out and under a small penalty I think he can go in again.
The booking of Billy Loughnane is very eye-catching and I fully expect him to be right there at the finish.
15:30 Chester – VIRGIN BET HANDICAP (2)
SUPIDO looks a very good thing here after winning over course and distance just 24 days ago.
He swooped late, ran across the track and still won going away. He’s gone up 4lb for that success but looking at the manner of the victory, and the fact he has previously been rated over 100, you would expect another huge run. Billy Loughnane keeps the ride.
16:05 Chester – JOHN SMITH’S FILLIES’ HANDICAP (4)
TAROT won really nicely when last seen in October and if Roger Varian’s filly has improved and filled out over the winter, we could be looking at a really nice horse.
At 8/1 with 4 places on offer, I’m more than happy to take a chance.
16:38 Chester – GENERAL ELLIOT CROFT HANDICAP (4)
You can draw a line through CROCKHAM HEATH’s last run after 93 days off the track. He didn’t look fit and didn’t seem to enjoy Newmarket.
Chester should suit him much better and Andrew Balding’s strike-rate here is very good. The booking of Oisin Murphy is another major positive and I expect to see a completely different horse this time. I’d be having an each-way play here.
Beverley Racing Tips
Written by Bryan Rogers
Beverley hosts a quality card with some very promising two-year-olds on show alongside a few handicappers that look ready to strike from attractive marks. The unique uphill finish at Beverley often catches horses out, so proven stamina and the ability to see races out strongly can be a major advantage. There are also several runners arriving in good form and a couple that look capable of progressing well beyond their current ratings.
13:45 Beverley – NAPOLEONS CASINO HULL HANDICAP (4)
The drop in grade may help URBAN GLIMPSE here, but having run poorly just a few days ago, he looks worth taking on.
The vote instead goes to Charlie Johnston’s SIR WILLIAM, who ran well when finishing second last time out. The addition of cheekpieces could bring about a little more improvement and he gets the win vote.
14:15 Beverley – HILARY NEEDLER TROPHY EBF FILLIES’ CONDITIONS STAKES (2)
A strong two-year-old race on paper, but Karl Burke’s KODI BEAR LIGHT won nicely last time out and should improve further for that experience.
She can take this race before potentially moving on to better things later in the season.
14:48 Beverley – BEVERLEY TWO YEAR OLD TROPHY EBF CONDITIONS STAKES (2)
MATTEO won with plenty in hand last time out and with further improvement on the cards, he can follow up here.
The selection looks a strong pick, especially as the horse he beat last time has since come out and franked the form.
15:25 Beverley – BIRCH FLOORING NOVICE STAKES (3)
Just the three runners line up here and URCHIN appears to have found the perfect race to follow up his recent success.
The manner of that victory suggested there is more to come and he will be very tough to beat.
16:32 Beverley – ICS CLEANING SERVICES HANDICAP (6)
VIETNORM will be a popular selection, but it may be worth taking a chance on CLEAR ABOVE.
He was staying on really well last time out and the step up from 1m to 1m2f should suit perfectly, especially as he has now slipped down the handicap to a more workable mark.
17:08 Beverley – PLATINUM QUEEN PLAY LIVE AFTER RACING HANDICAP (6)
The now well-handicapped COPPER AND FIVE has been unfortunate to finish second on his last two starts and can go one better here.
The form of his latest run has worked out particularly well and he looks a confident win selection to round off the card.
Horse Racing Tips

Saturday brings two very different cards from Catterick and Stratford, but both offer some excellent betting opportunities. At Catterick there are several runners that have slipped to attractive handicap marks and look ready to strike, while Stratford’s evening jumps card features a number of progressive horses that could still be ahead of the assessor. Conditions look set to suit plenty of these selections and there are a few strong fancies throughout the day, including one that stands out as the best bet on the Stratford card.
Catterick Racing Tips
13:55 Catterick – PENNINE BREWING COMPANY NOVICE STAKES (4)
The soft ground was against STONEACRE JOE last time out and now back on better ground he can take the opening contest.
SKIP TO VICTORY looks the main danger, but STONEACRE JOE gets the vote.
14:27 Catterick – EVERY RACE LIVE ON RACING TV HANDICAP (6)
O FORTUNA is looking well handicapped and in a very open race makes plenty of each-way appeal.
Having slipped to a mark of just 56, he can run a big race at decent odds.
14:58 Catterick – DOWNLOAD THE RACEDAY READY APP MAIDEN STAKES (4)
MR WRITER ran a really good race when finishing second last time out and is sure to be popular with punters.
However, the value and verdict goes to GRASMERE BOY, who ran a good race on the all-weather and should improve again for this turf outing. With experience now behind him, he can take this race.
15:38 Catterick – NETHERFIELD FC TEAM OF 1990 HANDICAP (6)
A small but competitive field where ZEPHLYN gets the vote.
The blinkers are applied today and after falling to a workable mark, his proven stamina over this two-mile trip could prove decisive.
16:12 Catterick – ANN WHITEHOUSE MEMORIAL VETERANS’ HANDICAP (5)
EVOCATIVE SPARK loves running at Catterick and can make it five course victories.
There are question marks surrounding several of his rivals and he looks a strong selection in race five.
16:43 Catterick – RACING TV HANDICAP (6)
The Ed Dunlop-trained ZOUSTAR DREAMS really should have won by now.
A handicap mark of 57 looks on the low side and the win looks to be coming. He gets the vote in this six-runner contest.
17:17 Catterick – BET AT RACINGTV.COM HANDICAP (6)
STAR OF EMERALD has clearly been minded through three qualifying runs and now enters handicaps from a mark of just 52.
The step up in trip could bring about significant improvement and he looks a strong win selection.
Stratford Racing Tips
17:50 Stratford – JULIE SATTERLEY WAVING GOODBYE TO 49 NOVICES’ HURDLE (4)
The very useful Flat performer MACHETE BEACH won well over hurdles last time and should improve again for that experience.
MASKARVEL looks the main danger, but MACHETE BEACH is a strong selection to open the card.
18:20 Stratford – HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY RICH WILDING MARES’ NOVICES’ LIMITED HANDICAP HURDLE (5)
LITTLE LADY LUCY bids for a hat-trick for the Neil Mulholland yard, but SEAN BOWEN’S mount STELLARMASTERPIECE looks a serious threat.
The race could set up perfectly for STELLARMASTERPIECE to stalk the pace and pick off the leader turning for home.
18:50 Stratford – JULIE SATTERLEY 50th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION HANDICAP HURDLE (3)
Just five runners go to post and while FORGET THE WAY should go close, HOPE RISING looks the horse with the most upside.
The recent run should have him spot on and Gavin Sheehan can steer him to victory.
19:20 Stratford – FARMERS FRESH HANDICAP CHASE (3)
This 3m4f contest looks very open on paper, but ESPERTI is a strong selection.
Receiving weight from all of his rivals, Sean Bowen can sit quietly towards the rear before producing a challenge when the leaders begin to tire.
19:50 Stratford – OWEN THOMAS MEMORIAL HANDICAP CHASE (4)
A very open race where IN THIS WORLD could easily outrun his odds.
If jumping fluently, the former 130-rated performer has dropped a stone in the weights and makes plenty of each-way appeal.
20:20 Stratford – HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY STEVE COTTON HANDICAP CHASE (4)
GATEAU DE MIE has switched yards and appears to have been waiting for better ground conditions.
This race doesn’t look the strongest and he gets a strong verdict to take the sixth race on the card.
20:50 Stratford – SUN RACING SUMMER JUMPS CHAMPIONSHIP HANDICAP HURDLE (5)
IN THIS WORLD has competed against much stronger opposition in the past and there are no 130-rated horses lining up here.
Now racing from a mark of just 71, this could be the day to catch him. The booking of Sean Bowen is another major positive and he gets a strong each-way verdict to close the meeting.
