Sunday Horse Racing Tips
Written by Bryan Rogers

Sunday’s jumps racing looks packed with competitive handicaps and a few horses that still look very nicely treated off their current marks. There’s a strong mix of proven course form, unexposed runners and horses dropping into the right grade, and across Kelso, Uttoxeter and Fontwell there are definitely a few that could still be ahead of the handicapper. Ground and track position could play a massive role throughout the day, especially around the tighter tracks where front runners and fluent jumpers are often hard to peg back.

Kelso Racing Tips
14:28 Kelso – LADIES DAY NOVICES’ HURDLE (4)

Not a strong maiden to start the card and CHEMISTRY really should be winning this. The form of the Sedgefield win has worked out well and this strong flat runner will be very tough to beat in race one.

15:03 Kelso – ELLIOT HENDERSON GROUP HANDICAP HURDLE (2)

Really trappy race for race two and all four runners have a nice chance, but the seriously good flat runner KIHAVAH has a 105 rating on the flat and if he can convert that ability to hurdles, he can take this and gets the verdict.

15:37 Kelso – J.A. WILSON CONTRACTORS HANDICAP HURDLE (5)

Open contest here but with plenty of pace in this race it should set up perfectly for a late closer, and that may suit the now well-handicapped HEART ABOVE.

With the jockey’s claim he gets in here off 99, which is 5lb below his last winning mark, and gets a really strong verdict here.

16:12 Kelso – RACING TV HANDICAP CHASE (4)

With a return to form last time out and strong Kelso form, the now well-handicapped CHAPEL GREEN is running with the jockey’s claim 11lb below his last winning mark and must be the play here.

Yes, it’s a tough race, but CHAPEL GREEN may just be returning to form and is a big danger to all here

17:22 Kelso – BORDERS GROWERS & DISTILLERS HANDICAP HURDLE (4)

The last time SIMPLE STAR ran over hurdles he won well from the front and after getting fit again on the flat still looks well in at the weights off a mark of 107.

I’ve got a good feeling that if he runs from the front like his last hurdle win then SIMPLE STAR will be tough to peg back and gets the vote here.

17:57 Kelso – SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER OPEN NATIONAL HUNT FLAT (4)

National Hunt Flat race to finish the card and the Irish raider from Andrew Slattery’s yard has strong claims.

BOY AARON has plenty of stamina in the family and may just prove too strong here for his rivals.

Uttoxeter Racing Tips

14:22 Uttoxeter – WRIGHTS ROLLING IN THE DOUGH DERBY MARES’ NOVICES’ HURDLE (3)

Harry Skelton’s ride will be very popular here and FIRST CANDIDATE’s form has been strong in the lead-up to this.

I’m just not sure there is a horse as good as 120 in this race and if I’m right, FIRST CANDIDATE will win well.

14:52 Uttoxeter – WRIGHTS GREAT BRITISH BAKE NOVICES’ HANDICAP HURDLE (5)

The way CINNODIN went through the race last time to win was impressive and staying races will only bring out more improvement.

Being so unexposed, he can keep progressing with another win here.

15:28 Uttoxeter – WRIGHTS CENTENARY GOLD CUP HANDICAP HURDLE (2)

SERVICE MINIMUM has shot up in the weights after previous wins but now running off a mark of 126 has to be taken on here and it may pay to look elsewhere in this very open race.

The verdict goes to FLYING FORTUNE, who has been crying out for the drop in trip and now returning to 2m4f from 3m should see him run a huge race.

16:03 Uttoxeter – CLARKE CHASE (HANDICAP) (2)

With some very good horses on show here, GLENGOULY has been running poorly of late but this small field may just suit his strong front-running style.

If allowed an easy lead, he has very strong chances of taking this fifth race on the card.

16:37 Uttoxeter – WRIGHTS SAUSAGE ROLL SPRINT HANDICAP HURDLE (4)

Now running below his last winning mark, VOCITO loves it at this time of year and Sean Bowen riding only makes the chance even greater.

A strong verdict here for the Olly Murphy-trained horse.

17:12 Uttoxeter – WRIGHTS ALWAYS TASTY CLASSIC HANDICAP CHASE (Qualifier) (4)

With many not arriving in form, the win verdict goes to SCOTTISH KING, who is in great form at the moment and still only running off a mark of 106.

He may not have finished improving yet, especially with the possibility of getting the run of the race.

17:47 Uttoxeter – WRIGHTS 100 YEAR DASH OPEN NATIONAL HUNT FLAT (5)

National Hunt Flat race to end the card and Nicky Henderson’s CRUIKSHANK may just need this run, while a few of these are probably here more for experience.

That leaves the verdict going to David Pipe’s SHOW YOUR HAND, who travelled really well before just getting tired late on when finishing second last time.

With that experience behind him, Rian Corcoran’s mount can take this before moving on to better things.

Fontwell Racing Tips

14:00 Fontwell – KSR LIGHTING NOVICES’ HURDLE (4)

Harry Cobden has come to Fontwell for a handful of rides and I fully expect HANDMEDOWNASTAR to take the first race.

This lightly raced 6-year-old has run two solid races so far and can land this opening contest from the main rival FLASH MAN.

14:35 Fontwell – V2 RADIO HANDICAP HURDLE (5)

The 80-rated flat horse CHARTWELL JOCK ran a good third last time at Plumpton and with this race not looking too deep for the grade, gets the win verdict.

Any market support for Neil Mulholland’s GIDDYUPADINGDONG must also be noted as he runs in a handicap for the first time today.

15:10 Fontwell – SUN RACING SUMMER JUMPS CHAMPIONSHIP HANDICAP CHASE (Qualifier) (5)

GATA BAN was unlucky to lose last time out after getting caught on the long run-in at this track.

If GATA BAN can be held onto for a bit longer in this race then things could unfold perfectly late on. The 3m2f trip will be tough for most of his rivals to see out and he looks a strong selection here.

15:45 Fontwell – MERCEDES-BENZ OF CHICHESTER MARES’ HANDICAP HURDLE (4)

MISS GOLDFIRE loves it around Fontwell having already built up a strong record at the track and can add to that here.

Not many of these will get into this race and Harry Fry’s mare looks a very strong selection.

16:20 Fontwell – SOUTHCOAST HOMECARE EXCELLENCE IN CARE HANDICAP HURDLE (5)

Chris Gordon and Harry Cobden team up here and JEFE TRIUNFO looks like he is starting to become very well handicapped.

He has slipped 10lb in the handicap and is worth taking a chance on to run very close here.

16:55 Fontwell – A.W. JEFFREYS LTD HANDICAP CHASE (Qualifier) (5)

The unlucky fall for MAJESTIC MOMENT last time out was tough to take as he was travelling really well.

He can make amends here and with his running style will be tough to beat if putting in a clear round of jumping. FOOTLOOSE MAN is starting to look well handicapped as well, but MAJESTIC MOMENT gets the verdict.

17:30 Fontwell – LAND & POWER MARES’ OPEN MAIDEN NATIONAL HUNT FLAT (5)

Jamie Snowden’s LA DAME ECARLATE may just be a class above these rivals.

Yes, it’s only a National Hunt Flat race, but the stable has a very good record in these races, especially at Fontwell, and she gets a strong win verdict here.
