Machete Beach and Glory And Honour head this six-runner Class 4 contest at Sedgefield on good ground, both rated narrowly ahead of the chasing pack, and Machete Beach gets the nod on the basis that the seventeen-furlong trip on good ground should suit him. Glory And Honour is the obvious threat at the same rating and must be respected, while Saint Polo and Jolie Coeur Allen, both rated thirteen pounds off the top, could outrun expectations if conditions play to their strengths. On balance, Machete Beach looks the one to be on.
SAINT POLO at 11/4, Jennie Candlish with Luke Scott taking off 3lb, looks the pick of these. It was staying on at the finish last time and comes from a yard in good heart at 20%.
The dangers are JOLIE COEUR ALLEN at 13/2 (a course winner) and GLORY AND HONOUR at 18/1.
VERDICT: SAINT POLO 11/4
