Chally Chute heads this competitive 17-furlong Curragh contest on good-to-soft ground, rated narrowly ahead of Absurde and Tennessee Stud, who both sit five pounds below, with Uxmal a further two pounds back as the third principal danger in a large and open field. The step up to this marathon trip is the key question over our selection, and the presence of so many rivals in a 30-runner contest means the race could easily be lost in traffic or by an unfavourable passage, which tempers confidence here. Absurde and Tennessee Stud are closely matched on their merits and will not be far away at the finish, while Uxmal could also prove troublesome if the ground plays to his strengths. On balance, Chally Chute’s rating edge gives him the marginal call, and he is our selection.
