Cromane gets the nod in a tight seven-runner contest over a mile on soft ground at Bellewstown, sharing the top rating of 76 with Violet Be Humble and so holding no more than a fine edge on our figures. Sister Nancy is only two pounds behind on 74 and Scarlet Dream, on 70, is another who could take advantage if the leaders falter, so this is far from a one-horse race. Still, Cromane has the merit to hold off that trio and is narrowly preferred to Violet Be Humble, so Cromane is our selection.
