Swift Salian is our selection, and although our figures put him at 78, a few pounds shy of the top-rated runner on 83, his progressive profile makes him the one to side with in this 14-runner Class 5 over a mile on good ground. A horse still on the upgrade can outrun a rating drawn from earlier form, and he sits only a handful of pounds off the best of these. The principal dangers are Selection, who is narrowly ahead of On The Inlet on 82, and Garden Oasis on 80, so this is a competitive renewal and not a confident call. Even so, Swift Salian’s improvement is enough to prefer him, and he is the pick.
