Beylerbeyi is our selection in this huge 29-runner Class 2 over two miles and a quarter at Newmarket, and we prefer his progressive profile to the top-rated Tashkhan, who is only five pounds ahead of him on our figures. That is a modest gap in such a big field, and a horse still on the upgrade can close it. The main dangers are Tashkhan himself, plus Dawn Rising and Tactician, who share Beylerbeyi’s rating of 102 and so give us little to separate them on figures. In a race this open, the improving type is the one to side with, so we go with Beylerbeyi.
