River Cartwright is our selection at Clonmel, and the case rests on a fitness edge that can outweigh a small rating deficit in a 12-runner field over two miles on good ground. He sits at 98, just 4 points behind the top-rated Distraction on 102 and two points shy of Red Seagull on 100, so the gap is narrow enough for sharper condition to decide matters. Distraction and Red Seagull are the obvious dangers, with Mhi Milani on 85 the best of the rest, and with seven of the twelve unrated there is some uncertainty in the pack. Even so, River Cartwright is the one we want on side.
