Best Rate tops our figures for this Class 4 over today's 8f at Ascot on good to firm, and does so despite being without a win in its last six starts - a striking level of consistency in defeat. Helm Rock and Mythical Guest, second and third on our figures, both look the most obvious dangers, with Clouds Hill also involved on solid recent form. Our confidence in Best Rate is medium rather than bombproof, but the sheer regularity of its form makes it the one to beat.
A very competitive contest to get the card underway, with almost the entire field holding realistic claims. The selection is Mythical Guest, who hasn\'t quite managed to reproduce the level of form he once showed, but his best efforts make him look very well treated. If he can bounce back anywhere near that old level, he looks overpriced and makes plenty of appeal as an each-way selection.
