Horse Racing Tips Catterick for Thursday 20th May
Catterick horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and today’s selections by Dan Stanton. A tricky looking card in places with a few short priced favourites taking on improving types, plenty of pace angles throughout the meeting, and some horses that look very dangerous back under the right conditions. The softer ground could also play a major role and there looks to be some solid each way value across the card.

Bit of a strange opener, just the 5 runners and not the most eye catching form from any. YACHTSMAN won last time out and has gone up 6lb so I’m not convinced he will like the good to soft ground if I’m honest, he seems the top of the ground type.
I’m siding with TAAKLAM who is out of sire MEHMAS, he’s been improving each run on the AW and might have what it takes to win this at 9/4.

I wish again I could give you a better pick, unfortunately not, this looks like a great opportunity for ROUANE to get off the mark. He had 2 nice runs last summer and if he’s strengthened up over the winter he could be 2 levels above these.

SAFARI DREAM won nicely at Salisbury last time out and escapes a penalty, he actually races off 5lb lower which is bizarre and last week’s jockey can actually claim 7lb in this race, but I’m not sure he’s got what it takes in the race to front run like he did last week.
There is so much early pace in this race that I think course and distance specialist EVOCATIVE SPARK, dropped back to 6f, will be finishing the strongest out of anything and at 7/1 at the time of writing I think he is a great each way play.

PERCY’S DAYDREAM won nicely last time out and gets a 6lb hike for his troubles but looking at the race I think he can get out in front and find a nice rhythm. A few of these need to be ridden very patiently, if David Nolan can take them along in front, slow it down and kick for home, he might have a few of these at it.
At 3/1 I’m happy to take on the favourite.

Hollie Doyle won nicely on MUSICAL SOLDIER on the AW and looked to have more in hand when winning it from the front. He’s drawn 1 which is not ideal but I think he has enough early pace here to get himself in a good position.
It seems he relished the new trip of 7f and although he is up in the weights if he takes to the turf he looks a good thing. 11/4 at the time of writing I’d be happy taking.

Filey Beach is probably a worthy favourite here, but WITHOUT DELAY ran a nice race in behind last time out and only finished 2 lengths behind and at the same weights I think the 3lb claim on WITHOUT DELAY must be the difference.
I think Filey Beach got a dream run last time out but I like how WITHOUT DELAY dug in and I think with a bit of luck in running I’d rather take the 7/1 on ours each way than the 15/8 on the favourite.
17:27 Catterick, RACING AGAIN 30th MAY FILLIES’ HANDICAP (5)
Charlie Johnston’s VELVET RHYTHM won first time out in a handicap last run and I think this is just the start for this filly. She has been put up 3lb for that win but Jack Callan is taking 3 off.
There is not a great deal of depth in this race and at the time of writing she’s 11/8, it wouldn’t surprise me if she goes off 8/11 tomorrow.
Haydock Park horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and today’s selections by in house professional Bryan Rogers. With plenty of rain around and soft conditions expected, Bryan has focused heavily on horses proven in testing ground, strong staying types, and runners that look extremely well handicapped on old form. Haydock’s long straight can really expose weak finishers and there are a few on this card that could be finishing much stronger than the rest late on.

The once rated 99 horse on the flat FLEURMAN has come tumbling down in the weights and now finds himself on a mark of 69 with Harry Burns taking another 3lb off today, maybe it’s his day to return to winning ways on the turf.
A lot of rivals will travel comfortably for a mile and a half before emptying late, Fleurman is the opposite. He tends to find more once others are under pressure and with the long straight at Haydock the selection can take this race late on.
14:30 Haydock, PITCH PERFECT EBF MAIDEN STAKES (3)
Strong looking maiden for race 2 but the Andrew Balding horse SCARLET LEGEND has some strong horses in the family and with this being his second run I can see real improvement from his first time out second place and he can get one better this time.
15:00 Haydock, UNSUNG HEROES FILLIES’ NOVICE STAKES (4)
I was very impressed with how SECRET OF LIFE came under pressure at Wolverhampton but then stayed on really well to finish the race strongly and win.
If repeating that performance she will be very hard to beat, I actually feel the turf may see even more improvement and fully expect Rossa Ryan to get the job done here.
15:30 Haydock, TEAM EFFORT HANDICAP (5)
With plenty of pace in the race I really like the chances of STOIC POET. The first time the horse ran on a racecourse it finished fourth but the third horse, who it just lost to, is now a 90 rated horse.
Stoic Poet will stay this trip well when most are in trouble and dropping down from a mark of 73 to 67 with Kevin Stott on board can take this race late on. I also feel soft ground will be good for the fast finishing style of Stoic Poet.
16:03 Haydock, NO SPORT WITHOUT A SURFACE NOVICE STAKES (4)
The really expensive horse CHARTED COURSE will be fancied by many but with it probably being short odds it has to be worth taking a chance with the Hugo Palmer horse REGAL TIGER.
The Hugo Palmer 2 year olds have been flying this season and already have had winners and this newcomer gets the verdict for this in form yard.

5f sprint race to finish the card and with WHEELS OF FIRE returning to soft ground after two runs on ground that was too quick, he will take an awful lot of beating here.
The Richard Hannon horse is a rapidly improving sprinter and can go in again on ground he will love.
Musselburgh horse racing tips by in house professional Bryan Rogers. A few really interesting handicap angles on the card today and with a bit of rain around there could be some decent value throughout the meeting. Bryan has picked out a mix of strong favourites and a couple at bigger odds that look overpriced.
14:20 Musselburgh, WATCH ON RACING TV AMATEUR RIDERS’ HANDICAP (6)
Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap to kick the card off and Jim Goldie horse GALLUS NORMAN was very unlucky last time not to win and this 2m can see Gallus Norman stay well again and take this contest.
His last run he was just denied by a 66 rated horse who is actually a 102 rated horse over hurdles so that was a really good run and with today’s jockey claim leaving Gallus Norman well handicapped, he gets the verdict here for race 1.
14:50 Musselburgh, BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF RESTRICTED MAIDEN STAKES (Qualifier) (2)
I’m looking to avoid CAILIN AINE here just because the last time it ran it did run poor and being today’s favourite is worth taking on with EXPLAININGISLOSING here.
Yes it’s a 2 year old race but the selection was very green last time and looked like a horse that will now get the hang of things with that run under its belt and I can see the Richard and Peter Fahey horse going very close today.
15:20 Musselburgh, WATERMANS STRAIGHTFORWARD LEGAL ADVICE RESTRICTED MAIDEN STAKES (4)
Open contest here on paper but only one winner in our book for race 3, one of the best bets on the card I believe with the Edward Bethell trained WHERNSIDE getting a very strong pick.
The last 2 runs Whernside has stayed on very strongly to just be denied twice and the last run was against a 92 rated horse so with Connor Beasley’s mount running off 75 I’ve a feeling he’s still ahead of the handicapper.
15:50 Musselburgh, FRIDGE SPARES WHOLESALE LIMITED HANDICAP (6)
KRISSY will take all the beating here after the really good second last time out. Krissy with the jockey claim gets in today off a mark of 54 and the second last time out to a 73 rated horse shows Krissy is still well ahead of the handicapper.
16:25 Musselburgh, NEVER STANDING STILL HANDICAP (3)
A very open contest here but JANNAHS JOURNEY actually won 7 times in 2025 and has slipped down to below last winning mark here.
Jannahs Journey is now running off a mark of 74 and was as high as 85 only 5 runs ago, the Jim Goldie horse may be able to strike at a nice price.
17:00 Musselburgh, RACING TV PROFITS RETURNED TO RACING HANDICAP (5)
There are question marks about most of the runners over this 1m4f trip but ALPINE SIERRA is definitely in fine form and will love this 1m4f race and is a strong selection here.
With the jockey taking 5lb off, Alpine Sierra is still well ahead of its mark and can keep on improving.
17:35 Musselburgh, EVERY RACE LIVE ON RACING TV HANDICAP (6)
With the last race on the card probably the most open then I’m taking a strong each way chance with probably the outsider of the whole field, SOUL SEEKER.
Yes he is out of form but we all know horses have their day and Soul Seeker has dropped from a mark of 75 right down to 45 in just 13 months. With rain about Soul Seeker may just prefer a slight ease in the ground as he has run close on heavy in the past and can run well at very good odds here to send punters home happy.
