Horse Racing Tips For Tuesday 18th May
Nottingham horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and today’s selections by Dan Stanton. A really interesting card with some progressive types, a few nicely bred runners, and horses that could improve massively under the right conditions. With rain forecast overnight it could turn into a proper test in places and that may play a huge part in some of these races.
14:20 Nottingham, £9 RACEDAYS AT NOTTINGHAM NOVICE STAKES (4)
Seems to be not ideal weather overnight so I can imagine the ground will be more on the soft side than good, that sways me to have a go on RUNMAN. At the time of writing he is 15/8 and if the rain keeps coming overnight I fully expect him to flip flop with Adamlyi, the even money favourite.
14:50 Nottingham, FAMILY FUN RACEDAY SUNDAY 31st MAY NOVICE STAKES (3)
BAY ROYALE was well on top last time out here over course and distance and unless a newcomer turns out to be a very good thing I think he can go back to back. He was well on top at the finish last time out and a bit of cut in the ground should bring him on again.
15:50 Nottingham – EVENTS AND HOSPITALITY AT NOTTINGHAM RACECOURSE HANDICAP (4)
With a fair bit of rain knocking about, as per the weather forecast when writing this, I’d probably side with CHAPTER. Nice bit of form in the soft back in September and you would think Charles Hills has him wound up for his first run in 222 days.
Capichera probably is a worthy favourite but 2/1 is a bit short considering how competitive this race is.
I’m sticking with Chapter at 17/2, each way play.
16:20 Nottingham, CONFERENCES AND EVENTS AT NOTTINGHAM RACECOURSE FILLIES’ HANDICAP (5)
Edward Bethell has a pretty good strike rate with his handicap debutants and I think PORTH EILIAN has been given a fairly quiet campaign to get his mark of 69. Last time out at Thirsk kind of felt like a schooling session, wasn’t fully asked the question.
The step up to a mile is a big positive and I think we could see a different horse now handicapping.
16:55 Nottingham, £9 RACEDAYS AT NOTTINGHAM RACECOURSE HANDICAP (6)
SONIC SI switched yards to Tony Carroll back in February and he has been running consistently on the AW. His first time on the turf for Tony tomorrow and with a bit of rain knocking about I think he has a great chance.
He has fallen 20lb in the handicap and Rossa Ryan is an eye catching booking for sure, more rain the better and I think he could be a problem.
The danger for me would be MASTERCLASS who won the race last year, but at 6/1 with Sky and Paddy at the time of writing I’m having £20 win, 2 points Sonic.
Lingfield horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and today’s selections by Dan Stanton. A really interesting Tuesday card with a few progressive handicappers, lightly raced horses, and runners that still look ahead of their marks. Plenty of angles throughout the card with horses arriving in strong recent form, some dangerous handicap marks on show, and a few runners that could improve massively under the right conditions.
14:10 Lingfield, GET RACEDAY READY HANDICAP (5)
Dylan Cunha’s HENGEST was so impressive last time out at Windsor and you would imagine there is still plenty more to come from this horse. The way he travelled through the race and quickened up suggested he’s still ahead of the handicapper and I fully expect another big run here.
14:40 Lingfield – SKY SPORTS RACING SKY 415 RESTRICTED MAIDEN STAKES (5)
VIDMIYR looks a certainty to be honest but I can’t be getting stuck in at 4/7 unfortunately, so we look for a bit of value. I thought the J.S Moore horse ERNIE MCCREW was slightly interesting, he wasn’t given the best of rides early on last time out and I think he would be better over a mile.
If they go a fast pace today I think he could be staying on into a place and at 33/1 let’s roll the dice.
15:10 Lingfield, SIMON DUGGAN THE BAD AMA HANDICAP (6) (D.I)
Firstly let’s point out that OVIEDO was rated 104 in 2024, he runs off 52 today, he’s 50lb better off. When they want to be a going day this will win easy in this company, they just need to find the problem and sort it.
I don’t think the favourite MAN IS KING will get the hat trick today, he needs an easy lead off the front and he’s got it the last two times, I don’t think he will get that today. There are a few that will try and hit the front and I think it tees the race up for a stronger finisher.
I’m going to take a punt on UP THE ANTI, I think at 17/2 this seems a good each way bet in a race where there are serious question marks around some stables and form.
15:40 Lingfield, SIMON DUGGAN THE BAD AMA HANDICAP (6) (D.II)
Unfortunately I wish there was another selection with more value, but although I could make a case for a few of the horses I think NO GAIN looks thrown in here in a race where three quarters of the field can’t win.
I think NO GAIN had a bad ride last week, it’s obviously a horse you need to produce late. He was sent to the front too early and wandered across the straight. He needs plenty of cover and producing at the right time.
I’m a big fan of Charlie Bishop who gets the ride today and I think you will see him win this comfortably.
At bigger odds BEAR TO DREAM would have a squeak at a place.
16:10 Lingfield, FOLLOW @attheraces ON INSTAGRAM HANDICAP (6)
Interesting race this, I mean the front two in the market are short enough and I’m not sure there is much value there at all. I think it may pay to have an each way play on SUPERSTORM.
He only finished 2 lengths behind Wild Thoughts last time out, Wild Thoughts was racing off 68 that day. Since that race Wild Thoughts hacked up again at Windsor off a mark of 77 to make it 4 wins on the bounce.
I think the first time cheekpieces improved Superstorm last time out and he’s only gone up 1lb. If he takes to the turf I think the 7/1 on offer for 4 places is a great each way bet.
Hexham horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and today’s selections by in house professional Bryan Rogers. With plenty of rain forecast and the track also being watered, conditions could turn very testing by race time and that may play a huge part throughout the evening card. Bryan has focused heavily on proven soft ground form, well handicapped runners, and horses that look capable of improving in some fairly weak races.
17:50 Hexham, TYNEDALE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY CONDITIONAL JOCKEYS’ HANDICAP HURDLE (5)
With the track being watered and plenty of rain about I’ve a feeling the going will not be good to soft come this race so I’m focusing on soft ground horses for this meeting, but race 1 I’m really strong on WATCHOUTITSCOOKIE here and there are plenty of strong reasons why.
Firstly Nigel Hawke loves a trip up north with his runners and when he does they always seem to run well. Off just a hurdle mark of 74 and the jockey taking 3lb off, the horse runs today off 71 and for me it’s extremely well handicapped.
Also the form of its run behind a horse called Local Derby, who has won twice since, reads very well. A 113 rated horse only beat Watchoutitscookie by a quarter of a length, those pieces of form read very well for this lowly Class 5 race and I fully expect the selection to run well at a nice price.
The horse Shighness, if it can cut out the jumping mistakes, may be the danger to the selection.
18:20 Hexham, PORT OF BLYTH HANDICAP CHASE (4)
The horse Diamond Mix may not want the rain to arrive but I still don’t think it would beat the ready last time out winner CONQUER THE BREEZE, who was very impressive and did make a bad mistake on its way round.
Yes it’s been hit with an 8lb rise for that win, but it still leaves his mark only on 89. Only a few starts ago Conquer The Breeze was beaten only 4 lengths by a 111 rated horse so on that evidence the selection still has 10lb to play with and is a strong selection here.
18:50 Hexham, PORT OF BLYTH NOVICES’ HANDICAP CHASE (5)
The favourite SCAIRP DUBH is no bet for me here and will also have to give weight away which won’t be ideal, especially if the rain arrives.
The selection goes to OUT ON HER OWN who yes is 0 from 9 over hurdles but this winning pointer over 3 miles can now show real improvement in a race like this. This is not a deep race and Out On Her Own can claim the win.
19:20 Hexham, LYNN SIDDALL MEMORIAL HANDICAP CHASE (5)
I feel there’s question marks about KATIE’S MELODY here and that’s not for me at short odds. I just don’t feel its form has been anything to write home about, yes of course I could be proved wrong but for that this isn’t a good race with so many just poor horses.
I’m going to take an each way chance on WORTH THE WALK. This is now on a very low mark with very little weight but has nice point form over 3 miles and will be fine over this kind of trip when some may be struggling to get home.
19:50 Hexham, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY SHOW NOVICES’ HURDLE (4)
Passing Diamond won well last time but may not like the step up from 2m to 2m4f. Bold Step’s run in a bumper last time was a good second but the form you can pick holes in.
So I’m looking at MISTER ST ELOI to go on and win this race. This lightly raced 5 year old was actually bought from Ireland for £180,000 and may be in a different league to the rest of this field and I fully expect a win for Sean Bowen and Olly Murphy here without too much fuss.
20:20 Hexham, PORT OF BLYTH HANDICAP HURDLE (4)
VIP ELITE NAP RACE
20:50 Hexham, JASON ARNUP AFTER PARTY 6th JUNE HANDICAP HURDLE (5)
The last race on the card and probably the most open, with plenty of runners capable of winning but to be fair most are not very good unfortunately.
Blue Bear has come tumbling down the weights and if market support comes maybe interesting, but to me the really well handicapped JUSTUS may have found the perfect race. Running off a mark of 92 and with the jockey taking 5lb off, a mark of 87 may be very low for this poor Class 5.
The horse has some hot point form and will love any rain that falls, a good each way bet is strongly advised.
Huntingdon horse racing tips, brought to you by the Horse Racing Tips experts and today’s selections by in house professional Bryan Rogers. A really interesting evening card with a few well handicapped horses on show, some runners dropping to dangerous marks, and a couple of lightly raced types that still look to have plenty of improvement to come. Bryan has focused heavily on horses with stronger back form, proven point form, and runners that look very well treated against this level of opposition.
18:00 Huntingdon, TATTERSALLS IRELAND MAY HIT & P2P SALE MAIDEN HURDLE (4)
Dan Skelton has a strong chance in this with the horse EDELAK. Yes Edelak got beaten at short odds last time out but the Aintree run the start before that was a very good race with horses all around the 125 mark and with that should be good enough to take this race.
18:30 Huntingdon, TATTERSALLS ONLINE HANDICAP CHASE (5)
A very interesting 2m4f chase here and yes a small field but very competitive. Both CHATEAU DU LYS and KAPAMAZOV have come tumbling down the weights and should both go very close but the verdict just goes to Kapamazov who has dropped to its lowest ever mark of 81.
Going over its form, when it’s just been beat a few times it was against some nice 115 plus horses, for that I’m confident Kapamazov can get its head in front today.
19:00 Huntingdon, TATTERSALLS IRELAND MAY HIT & P2P SALE MARES’ HANDICAP HURDLE (5)
A trappy little race on paper for race 3 but not trappy in the reason for finding the winner as RIDE LIKE A GIRL off a mark of 101 has so much improvement to come, especially after the recent wind operation and has mixed it up with much better horses in the past.
This lightly raced 5 year old has now got its mark of 101 and can now keep improving.
19:30 Huntingdon, TATTERSALLS ONLINE HANDICAP HURDLE (3)
Harry Skelton will win this race I feel. ITS HARD TO KNOW is one of the best bets on the card but unfortunately will be favourite, but still a win is a win and this low mileage 7 year old has dropped from 119 to 113.
Last time out it ran a very good second with the third in that race a 121 rated horse. Dan Skelton’s runner on its previous form is definitely running 10lb below what I class the horse as and is a strong pick here.
20:00 Huntingdon, TATTERSALLS IRELAND MAY HIT & P2P SALE HANDICAP HURDLE (4)
ICE JET won by 21 lengths last time and was impressive with how the horse went through that race. Maybe the race wasn’t too deep that day, yes today will carry a 7lb penalty but this 69 rated flat horse still has about 10 to 15lb in hand on past form figures and I fully expect it to win this race.
20:30 Huntingdon, TATTERSALLS ONLINE NOVICES’ HUNTERS’ CHASE (5)
A novice hunters’ chase to finish the card and a good chance here for a fair few. With these kind of races looking at the strongest point form is key and also what jockeys are riding etc.
Daniel Williams is definitely the best jockey in the race and KANDOR definitely has the strongest point form so with those two angles make Kandor an extremely strong selection here and I fully expect the horse to win.
