Tuesday’s Racing Tips

Another busy day of racing ahead with competitive action from both Ffos Las and Beverley. There are plenty of horses running off attractive marks, a few progressive types looking capable of climbing the handicap ladder, and some interesting each-way angles at bigger prices.

As always, finding the right pace setup and identifying horses that are potentially better than their current mark is the key to long-term profit. We’ve got a mix of solid favourites, improving handicappers and a couple of bigger-priced selections that look capable of outrunning their odds.

Race 1 – 14:30

I kind of get the feeling ON EDGE will be suited by the step up in trip. The Christopher Mason-trained runner won nicely last time out and the booking of Billy Loughnane catches the eye. I feel he has to be worth the 2lb rise he received for that victory and 7/2 looks a fair price.

Race 2 – 15:00

I think HARRY’S HALO looks a good thing here. He ran a cracker on his seasonal return and backed that up at Carlisle last time out when he was repeatedly short of room at crucial stages. The drop back to 5f looks a positive move and I fully expect him to go very close indeed.

Race 3 – 15:30

Harry Charlton’s ENGLISH TIME looks a really nice type and was super unlucky not to win last time out. He appears to be improving with every start and looking through tomorrow’s opposition, I would be very surprised if he gets beaten.

Race 4 – 16:00

RACING DEMON seems to be running into a bit of form. He produced a solid effort last time out off a mark of 55, which is now 10lb below his last winning mark. Had he not blown the start on that occasion, he probably would have won.

Race 5 – 16:35

I think there is going to be plenty of early pace in this race and that could set things up perfectly for a strong-travelling finisher. WHISKEY SUNRISE was unlucky not to win back in January on the all-weather and the likely race setup should suit.

Race 6 – 17:10

ZAMBEZI MAGIC won over this course and distance just over a year ago off a mark of 58 and with the apprentice taking off 7lb, he effectively races from 55 today. He’s a horse that absolutely loves Ffos Las, having won here seven times previously. At 16/1 he looks a cracking each-way price.

Race 1 – 14:15

FERN CLYDE is probably the most experienced horse in the race and her performance last time out was impressive, particularly the way she knuckled down when challenged. The step up to 7f looks likely to suit.

Race 2 – 14:45

This could become a battle for early track position and I think that may play into the hands of THIS FARH. He won here two starts ago off a mark of 72 and although he’s 3lb higher now, he looks progressive this season.

Race 3 – 15:15

A horrible race on paper. At the prices, I’m happy to take a chance on the David O’Meara newcomer FELIZ NAVIDAD. If this one has inherited any ability, 10/1 looks more than fair.

Race 4 – 15:45

Looking for a bit of value here and ARCH LEGEND catches the eye. He went close over course and distance 13 months ago off a mark of 54 and returns off just 47. On old form he could be extremely well handicapped.

Race 5 – 16:17

QITAAL was dropped in grade last time out and ran an absolute cracker. He was unlucky not to win, with the gaps appearing at the wrong moments. He races off the same mark of 75 here and the race doesn’t look particularly strong.

Race 6 – 16:52

Another poor Class 6 handicap and based on recent form it’s hard to get away from WADACRE GEISHA. Looking at the makeup of the race, she should be able to get her own way out in front and control matters.

Race 7 – 17:27

OASIS COVER seems to be getting the hang of things on turf. She took a big step forward on her second start on grass when finishing runner-up, beaten just over a length by the favourite. She runs from the same mark of 59 and should go close.
