Yermanthere showed a good attitude in taking a handicap at Ripon last time, and the 3lb rise today looks manageable given the fashion of that effort; course and distance are in his favour. Shimmering Sands, who won over this course and distance most recently and finished with evident reserves, is the main threat, while Ephron also holds claims despite his stamina at 10 furlongs remaining to be proven. Yermanthere is our selection.
Michael & David Easterby have won this race three of the last four runnings and they saddle two runners once again. Favourite Shimmering Sands won well over course and distance last time out but has been hit with a 4lb rise, which looks a little harsh.
Instead, I\'ll take a chance on Yermanthere. With Tom Easterby taking a valuable 3lb off, he\'s effectively running off the same mark as when winning nicely at Ripon last time out. At 13/2, he looks a cracking each-way bet.
