Placed behind a big Dan Skelton-trained gamble when upped to 2m7f for his handicap debut, GOLDEN PRINCE can build on that effort.
WE MOVE ON TO THE 2ND RACE ON THE CARD – 17:12 Ffos Las (3m Novices’ Handicap Hurdle)
My main selection in this race is Hidden Target out of the Richard Phillips yard, with Gavin Sheen onboard.
Looking through the back form of this horse, he ran 15 lengths behind My Daddy Paddy on debut, which is some feat in itself. He’s had a few quiet runs during his novice campaign, then was given an opening handicap mark of 105 two runs ago.
Last time out at Chepstow, over an inadequate trip of 2m3½f, he was very eye-catching staying on late.
The step up to 3 miles today should suit, and I think with 4 places on offer, the 6/1 looks a great each-way bet.
Others to note would be Dessie Hays, who is effectively running off the same mark as last time when winning by 3 lengths. And you can never discount the Christian Williams yard when they send runners over 3m+ trips — he runs Golden Price, currently around 5/1.
