Classic Encounter is our selection for this Lingfield mile, sharing the top rating with Great Chieftain but boasting the sharper placings in defeat, including a runner-up effort last time out. He has raced over today's distance and won three starts back, giving him solid claims to confirm that promise. Great Chieftain, unraced for 92 days, is the obvious alternative given the shared top rating, while Huscal, racing without much let-up, and the frustratingly consistent Desert Shadow round out the dangers. Confidence in the selection is high.
