Winning Paddy’s best performance came when landing this course and distance easily on his penultimate start, and his most recent outing — where a steadily-run race simply did not suit him — can be set aside; the extra test of stamina over fences here looks in his favour. Longhouse Star is the most intriguing danger, with experience between the flags and now running for a new yard in excellent current form, while Mcgregors Charge should sharpen up back over fences and Daring Plan comes in with confidence from a recent success. Winning Paddy is the selection.
The return to fences looks a big positive for Winning Paddy, and he rates a strong each-way selection in a very open contest.
He got back to winning ways over this course and distance two starts ago, proving he handles the track well, and a return to the larger obstacles should suit him perfectly. If reproducing that level of form, he has every chance of getting back into the frame and looks capable of going very close.
